Manchester United took their historical unbeaten streak in Premier League matches away from home to 29 on the back of David de Gea’s late heroics.

The Red Devils eked out a nerve-shredding 2-1 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of another outstanding comeback.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fell behind in the 30th minute after Said Benrahma’s long-range effort took a deflection off of Raphael Varane and caught de Gea off guard.

However, United replied within five minutes through unplayable Cristiano Ronaldo, who saw his first-time attempt denied by Lucasz Fabianski but made no mistake from the rebound.

Second-half substitute Jesse Lingard completed the turnaround in the 89th minute with a breathtaking curling effort from just inside the box.

Though many had thought the 28-year-old winger managed to upset the side that helped him get his career back on track, Luke Shaw’s 94th-minute handball inside the box gave the Hammers a golden opportunity to salvage a point.

David Moyes made the strangest of calls as he decided to send on the experienced Mark Noble to take the spot-kick.

The 34-year-old midfielder had just a single minute of top-flight football behind this season, so it may come as no surprise that de Gea managed to thwart his penalty.

Since being handed dismissal in 2014, Moyes has failed to beat Manchester United in all eight meetings.

In the aftermath, the West Ham gaffer tried to defend his decision to let Noble take the penalty despite the former’s lack of form.

“We had time to think about it, time to make that choice. My choice, my decision. You have to make big decisions,” he said, as relayed by the Daily Mail.

“Sometimes they go and sometimes they don’t. I think I would have been more disappointed in myself if I hadn’t made the decision.”
